Mayor of London - male or female?

This year the people of London will vote for the next Mayor, there two main contenders are men: Zac Goldsmith and Sadiq Khan. However, among the other candidates are several women; sian Berry from the Green Party, Caroline Pidegeon from Liberal Democrats and Sophie Walker from the Woman's Equality Party. mingle Trend asked the British public if they would like to see a a female Mayor of London or whether it was up to the best man/woman to win.

8% of 937 participants want a female Mayor of London; 10% of women and 7% of men. It is imteresting to note, men in the UK are more likely to advocate a female mayor than a male mayor. However, the overwhelming majority (74%)of people in the UK want the best man or woman to win, this number increases noticeably among the 16-19 years; 85% say they want a fair and square election. The 60-69 years (20%) followed by the 40-49 years (16%) are the least interested in the election.

Who would you like to see as the next Mayor of London? Even if you don't live in London then the Mayor is a public fgure for the capital and its image at home and abroad.
