Online dating – what are the Brits looking for?

Online dating

Tinder, okcupid, bugme,the list of online dating sites and apps seems to be endless, but the demand is obviously there; the industry is worth an estimated £200 in the UK. mingle Trend wanted to find out just how many of their participants have tried it and what were they looking for.

32% of Brits say they have tried out online dating, men (36%) slightly more often than women (28%). 68% of people in the UK haven`t tried it out yet. It is the 20-29 years (49%) who have tried out online dating the most often, followed by the 30-39 years (40%).

So what were the online daters looking for? 49% of users in total were/are looking for love, 58% of women and 40% of men also use online dating sites or apps to find the one. 26% of females use online dating to find new friends and 17% of males want casual sex. Looking at the different age-groups it is love which most of the users are looking for, closely followed by new friends (21%). However, a surprising result is the 60-69 years are the most likely to be interested in casual sex; noticeably more than the younger participants.
